Revolutionizing Office Comfort: The Hip Chair

Designed by Sunon Design Team and Alegredesign, the Hip Chair redefines office ergonomics

The Hip Chair stands out in the office furniture market due to its unique features. It is designed to facilitate both intensive work at individual desks, referred to as 'Focus Work', and more dynamic, adaptable tasks that require freedom of movement and flexibility, termed 'Dynamic Work'. The chair's design allows the body to move freely, enhancing ergonomics and making any task easier. Despite its simplicity, the Hip Chair boasts all the features of a high-end office chair.

The chair's structural parts are made with aluminum injection and injection plastic, while the parts that come into contact with the user are made of injection plastic and foam. The seat and backrest are made of foam and upholstered with technical textile. The chair measures 1226mm in height, 700mm in width, and 700mm in depth.

The Hip Chair's innovative synchronized system is operated through simple hip movements that are detected at the back of the chair. This allows the user to move naturally, enhancing comfort and ergonomics. The chair is designed to be an essential tool in work areas, guaranteeing high performance thanks to its comfort, ergonomics, and design.

The project began in September 2016 in Valencia and was completed in December 2017 in Hangzhou. It was exhibited in CIFF Canton 2018. The design process involved significant research into how objects can better adapt to users and their environment. The main challenge was to synchronize the seat and backrest in one system, a feat that has greatly improved the user experience in the workplace.

The Hip Chair has been recognized for its innovative design, winning the Golden A' Furniture Design Award in 2018. This prestigious award is granted to outstanding and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
